Big Turnout in Support of Sonoma Compost at Board of Supervisors Hearing

From Evan Wiig of The Farmer’s Guild, via Facebook:

Big thanks to the HUGE show of support at yesterday’s Board of Supervisors hearing. The room was PACKED with passionate supporters, eloquent farmers like Paul Kaiser of Singing Frogs Farm and Kaiti Catchmyer of Red H Farm, ag advocates like Carmen Snyder of Sonoma County Farm Trails, reps from the Sebastopol Grange #306, CAFF: North Coast Region, Sonoma County Conservation Action, and dozens of gardeners, landscapers and champions of sustainability. The message was clear: a service like Sonoma Compost is essential to who we are here in the North Bay and it’s imperative that we find a solution to keep this fertile green waste stream flowing. I truly believe our supervisors listened to just how vital this service is to our community and that they’ll take the right actions to keep it alive. But that doesn’t mean we stop. Please pass along our petition (now at nearly two and a half thousand signatures) and amplify yesterday’s call to action: local compost for local food, abundant gardens and a healthier community:
