We are only a week away from our 5th Annual “Let’s Preserve!” community canning event and we still need volunteers! Please join us on Saturday, October 10th at the Healdsburg High School Kitchen as we prepare and preserve hundreds of pounds of tomatoes into tomato sauce and donate all of the finished product to the Healdsburg Food Pantry.
The event is hosted by Farm to Pantry and sponsored by Soroptomist International of Healdsburg.
 
Volunteers are needed on the day of the event.
We’ll can in two shifts on Saturday, October 10th: 9am-1pm and 12pm-4pm with hands-on guidance from canning expert, Merrilee Olson of PRESERVE Sonoma. At noon we’ll take a break to share a communal potluck lunch. Please bring an apron, a knife, a bit of lunch to share and your canning stories.
If you can’t attend you can still help!
We are gathering wide-mouth quart-sized jars and tomatoes before the event. You can drop your surplus tomatoes and/or wide-mouth quart canning jars off on Friday, Oct. 9th from 9 am-12 pm at the Healdsburg Food Pantry at 1505 Healdsburg Avenue. Volunteers are needed the day before the event to transport tomatoes, jars and neighbors to the high school.
