The Russians Are Coming, Again

I do appreciate the irony of finding Rob Reiner, a.k.a. “Meathead” on All in the Family, the popular CBS sitcom from the 1970s, now peddling anti-Russian propaganda via the newly-formed Committee to Investigate Russia. Reiner appears determined to fuel a renewed Cold War, enlisting actor Morgan Freeman to lend voice to the fact that “we…

U.S. Nuclear Modernization Has Pentagon Dreaming of a Winnable Nuclear War with Russia

Mainstream, Corporate Media in U.S. Yet to Cover Alarming Change in Nuclear Balance U.S. policy “creates exactly what one would expect to see, if a nuclear-armed state were planning to have the capacity to fight and win a nuclear war by disarming enemies with a surprise first strike” Asked in the June 2017 edition of…

Negotiate, Don’t Escalate on the Korean Peninsula

via the War Resisters League: Yesterday North Korea fired a ballistic missile at Hokkaido Island– the first missile of its kind to fly over Japan amidst rising global tensions. Meanwhile, US and South Korean military exercises continue while Trump renews threats of escalation, fueling an all too costly arms race. As the international community calls for diplomatic…

Time to Cut the Military Budget – Congressman John Conyers

This week, longtime civil rights activist Congressman John Lewis and more than 50 Members of Congress joined me to introduce my new resolution, H.Res. 246, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the April 4, 1967 “Beyond Vietnam” sermon given by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Riverside Church in Harlem, New York.

In the sermon, Dr. King declared his opposition to the U.S. war in Vietnam. He also gave an important warning to our nation, one that still rings true today. Dr. King said: “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”

Since I recorded this message, President Trump unilaterally decided, without approval from Congress or the United Nations, to bomb a sovereign nation. Those 59 Tomahawk missiles alone cost taxpayers more than $50 million. I will continue do to everything in my power to stop Trump from wasting our tax money bombing people abroad, when we have so much important nation-building to do right here at home. There is no question that the United States must do more to relieve the suffering of the civilians trapped in Syria’s civil war. If President Trump wants to help the Syrian people, he should start by welcoming those seeking refuge from this terrible civil war.

The Deep State & Media Demonization of Russia Can Only End Badly

Devil’s Chessboard author David Talbot via Facebook: March 1, 2017 The plot thickens. The day after Trump’s “triumphant” kinder-gentler Caligula speech before Congress, the deep state moves aggressively against him. Lyin’ Jeff Sessions’ days as Attorney General are numbered after the security agencies leaked his meetings with Russian reps to the Washington Post — and…

Careful drawing conclusions about Russian contacts with Trump & interference in the U.S. election, former CIA/State Dept counterterrorism official warns

The need to resist Trump and all he stands for is paramount. However, let us not forget that there are a significant number of very powerful and influential people who appear to desire a Cold War 2.0 with Russia. Some are openly calling for a coup d’etat to depose Trump. On the Feb. 17 show,…
