It remains a shock to many of us that it is still possible to build a new gasoline station in 2019, when we really should have already stopped burning the stuff if we wish for humanity and other living creatures to survive on Planet Earth. That we would allow one to be constructed across the street from a Petaluma school is an outrage that would not be tolerated were it not a poor and largely minority school and community population. You can read a bit more on the Safeway gas project we’ve previously written here.
Thanks to Indivisible Petaluma for organizing a protest this afternoon, Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 3 pm at the site of the proposed Safeway gas station at McDowell Blvd & Maria Drive. The project is once again on the Petaluma City Council’s agenda for its meeting tomorrow, Monday, March 4 at 6:45 pm (the council will be in closed session from 6-6:45 pm). View the meeting agenda here.
